Office Depot Taps Technology Business Veteran to Lead CompuCom Business

Office Depot (ODP) said Monday it has hired a technology business veteran to lead its troubled CompuCom business IT services unit.

The Boca Raton, Fla.-based office-supply retailer said Mick Slattery will lead the business, which swung to a $15 million operating loss in the first quarter from a $5 million profit the year before. Office Depot paid $1.1 billion in October 2017 to acquire CompuCom from private-equity partner Thomas H. Lee Partners.

Office Depot’s shares were trading nearly 3.5% lower in late-morning trading. Slattery was most recently the chief executive of Conduent Transportation, Conduent’s (CNDT) technology-led business process services business. Office Depot said in that position, Slattery “defined a clear growth strategy, identified new business opportunities and established a vision for the future.”
