European ADRs Move Higher in Tuesday Trading

American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 1.4% higher at 1,042.71 on the BNY Mellon Europe Select ADR Index on Tuesday.

In continental Europe, the gainers were led by Deutsche Bank (DB) and semiconductor company STMicroelectronics (STM), which rose 3.8% each. They were followed by biopharmaceutical firms DBV Technologies (DBVT) and argenx (ARGX), which climbed 3.3% and 2.8% respectively.

The only decliners in continental Europe were pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma (ASND) and biotech firm Zealand Pharma (ZEAL), which fell 3.7% and 1.2% respectively.

In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by pharmaceutical company Avadel (AVDL), and insurance firm Prudential (PUK), which rose 5.1% and 2.9% respectively. They were followed by mining company BHP Billiton (BBL), and biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP), which were up 2.6% and 2.2%.

The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by specialty pharmaceutical company Motif Bio (MTFB), which lost 2%, followed by airline operator Ryanair (RYAAY) and medical device maker Smith & Nephew (SNN), which were off 0.7% and 0.4% respectively.
